The
time has come, an Artist said,
To talk of many things:
Of colors – and style – and printing cost
–
Of possible – and viable –
And why some ideas are boiling hot –
And whether your venture has wings...

I
was born and grew up in Kaunas, Lithuania, where I graduated
from art school in 1981. Upon graduation, I worked for almost
eight years at the “Jiesia” Porcelain Factory
where I became a highly respected porcelain artist.
In
1988 I left my country and, after spending some time in Italy,
immigrated to the USA. Here in America I began a new career
as a fine artist specializing in graphic arts.
After
my first two solo shows and a number of group shows I quickly
learned that it is difficult to survive as a fine artist.
Regardless of successful art sales, it did not yield enough
income to survive for the time it took to create the art.
So, I found a graphic design teacher and for one year took
private lessons in computer graphics.
As a graphic designer I freelanced for a while, and later
found a position with a business management-consulting firm,
E-Myth Academy, where I worked for four years as their creative
director. While there I continued working on fine art and
had two more solo shows. Later I left the Academy and completely
focused on my art, but this time around my primary tools were
a computer, a 35mm. camera, and a scanner.
I also like photography. After traveling to many countries
and shooting many photos of walls, windows and doors, I had
an exhibit last year in Vilnius, Lithuania, called “The
Hole in the Wall Show.”
I
continue to accept freelance graphic design assignments, but
most of my time is devoted to my illustration and artwork.
Currently
I have finished new series of art work called Playing with
the Old Masters. It took me two years of research to create
the artwork. Essentially it's a digital collage, but I call
it Graphica in Silico. This series and other examples of my
most recent work was on display at the show in Riga,
Latvia, and another show in Vilnius,
Lithuania.
